Moses Fishbein was born in 1946 in Chernivtsi. He has worked for the Editorial Board of the Ukrainian Soviet Encyclopedia and the literary secretary of Mykola Bazhan. In 1979, as a result of refusing to cooperate with the KGB, he was forced to emigrate. He has lived in Germany since 1982. In 2003 he returned to Ukraine.
He has translated into Ukrainian poetry Heinrich Heine, Georg Trakl, R. M. Rilke, Hugo von Hofmannstha, P. Celan, Hans Carl Artmann, Tudor Arghezi, Chajim Nachman Bialik, Chajim Nachman Bialik, M. Voloshin and other authors.
Thanks to Moses Fishbein, Israel became the first country in the world to receive treatment for children affected by the Chornobyl disaster.
Winner of the Vasyl Stus Prize. In Ukraine he was also awarded the Order of Yaroslav the Wise of the 5th Degree, the Order of Saint Equal-Apostle Prince Vladimir the Great III Degree and the Order "For Intellectual Courage".
He is the author of the books “The Collection Untitled” (1984), “The Wonderful Garden” (1991), “Apocrypha” (1996), “Scattered Shadows” (2001), “Aphorisms” (2003), “ The Early Paradise ”(2006).
