The letter of condolenes regarding the recent Hamas attacks on the people of Israel

Dear Mr. President and Members of the Board of the World Jewish Congress, 
On behalf of the Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) and myself personally, please accept our heartfelt condolences on the horrifying and insidious terrorist attacks on Israel and its people. We express our sincere solidarity with the Israeli people in these dark times.

In late September 2023, during the traditional interfaith prayer that the UWC organizes annually in the Babyn Yar reserve in Kyiv to commemorate the memory of all the innocent victims of the Holocaust, Ukrainian religious leaders of various denominations stated that we cannot say “Never again!” with any confidence, as long as evil and hatred in the form of Putinist Russia exists.

For decades, Russia and its allies, such as Iran and North Korea, have sponsored terrorist groups, including Hamas, in various parts of the world. Terrorism is pure evil in all forms and must be stopped with international democratic community’s unity and resolve. We pray for all the innocent Israeli lives taken and those held in captivity by the ruthless terrorists. We also pray that both Ukraine and Israel successfully defend their freedom, independence and sovereignty in this existential fight for their survival.
